This 5-day Uganda safari combines gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest with chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest, plus optional swamp walks and cultural experiences.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Drive to Bwindi/Mgahinga
You will be picked up by your safari guide from your accommodation & drive to southwest Uganda. Along the way, you will have a stop at the equator. Have a coffee or tea then proceed and stop midway the journey for lunch. After having a lovely lunch, you will proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable forest national park which is home to half of the world’s mountain gorillas. Arriving in the evening at your accommodation, check-in; later have dinner and overnight; Choice of accommodation; luxury, midrange or budget. Meal plan; full board.
Day 2: Gorilla Tracking
Have an early morning breakfast, then head to the park briefing point. Here, you will meet with the rangers that have expertise in gorilla tracking, at 8am you will have a briefing about the gorilla tracking experience, thereafter you will allocated a gorilla tracking group and then head off to your great experience that is gorilla tracking. This experience varies in the length of time it takes to find the gorillas, however once you find them, you spend a 1 whole hour with them. Depending on your strength, upon return from the forest, you can opt for an optional activity which can be a forest walk, visiting the community that lives around the forest to help you understand their ways of life & also get stories of how they lived together within the forest many years ago or decide to stay at the lodge & memorize on your day’s experience. After the days experience, return to your lodge, dinner & overnight. Choice of accommodation; luxury, midrange or budget. Meal plan; full board.
Day 3: Drive to Kibale Forest National Park
Have early morning breakfast, then drive north to Kibale Forest National park. You will have lunch enroute. Proceed to your accommodation & check-in. Relax off the evening in preparation for the next day’s excursion. Dinner & overnight. Choice of accommodation; luxury, midrange or budget. Meal plan; full board.
Day 4: Chimpanzee Tracking at Kibale Forest
Early morning breakfast, then head to the park briefing area. At 8am, you will be briefed & allocated groups. Chimpanzee tracking takes about 3-4 hours including 1 hour spent with the chimpanzees then after this experience, you will head back to the park briefing point then have lunch, depending on your strength, you can opt for Bigodi swamp walk that is a nature walk through the buffer zone around the forest, it helps see other primates that you might have not seen on chimpanzee tracking. Return to your lodge and relax for the evening, dinner & overnight.
Day 5: Drive back to Kampala or Entebbe airport
Lazy breakfast, then embark on your journey to Kampala or Entebbe airport with lunch enroute. End of safari.
